Richard Simmons (born July 12, 1948) is an exercise guru and former talk show host (of The Richard Simmons Show). He is known for his extremely effeminate mannerisms and dress and his series of Sweatin' to the Oldies videos that were heavily marketed through infomercials in the 1980s and 1990s.

Simmons was a frequent guest of The Howard Stern Show during the 1990s. He vowed at one point he would never make another appearance on the show, though he reappeared on a 2006 episode. On a follow up episode in 2007, a comment by Stern lead Simmons to run out of the studio, crying hysterically.

Simmons has since become the butt of many jokes and pranks performed by Stern and his employees, Richard and Sal, who created a soundboard from clips of Simmons's talk show and guest appearances that was used to make several prank calls to unsuspecting individuals. Because of Simmons's high pitched voice, he is often mistaken for being a girl or accused of being gay.

The soundboard has since been recreated by the prank calling community and used to make additional prank calls.
