Darth Vader is the main character and central villain from the Star Wars films. Born Anakin Skywalker, Vader is a fallen Jedi Knight and Dark Lord of the Sith and the father of main protagonist Luke Skywalker.

Darth Vader was portrayed by many actors in the original trilogy: former body builder David Prowse and stuntman Bob Anderson provided the physical appearance of Darth Vader while wearing Vader's life support suit, James Earl Jones provided Vader's voice, and Sebastian Shaw provided Vader's likeness when his mask was removed. Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen also dawned Vader's signature armor for the last few minutes of Revenge of the Sith. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story also featured Vader, with Jones reprising his role as Vader's voice and Spencer Wilding and Daniel Naprous providing his physical appearance.

Darth Vader was one of the very first characters/actors to receive a soundboard, and dozens of different Vader soundboards have been made over the years.

James Earl Jones' distinct bassy voice is widely considered to be one of the greatest voices of all time, thus, the menacing voice of Vader is often considered to be the greatest voice in motion picture history. Despite this, Darth Vader prank calls can be difficult to achieve and often have bizarre results. Because of the distinction of the voice, most recognize it, while others often have difficulty understanding the voice due to a lack of clarity. However, there are exceptions, and several classic Vader calls have come into existence.

  • "I want to know what happened to the plans that they sent you."
  • "Don't make me destroy you."
  • "You have failed me for the last time."
  • "Apology accepted."
